We've heard rumors over the past month about a possible error within the eBay billing structure that - if correct - actually benefits the eBay sellers. Why wait until now to post this? Two reasons: 1) The fee increase goes into effect tonight at midnight and many sellers may be contemplating closing of their stores and 2) Although we've heard of this happening to several users, we haven't been able to find any other info on it (which sort of makes sense, considering if it is a glitch that benefits sellers, eBay will move fix it quickly). Anyone considering closing of their store in the near future might consider doing it quickly, rather than wait until your old $.02 listings run out. Ok, anyway, the glitch in question seems to credit the sellers with listing credits when the SIF listings are ended before they reach the end of their 30 day cycle, and in some cases they actually have gotten credit for listings from previous months!
We're not completely sure of the eBay policy on returning listing fees (in form of credits) when the items have not reached the end of their cycle, however, we're pretty sure they don't want to be giving credit for GTC item's listing fees from three months ago. We've been contacted by sellers who this has allegedly happened to when closing their stores; one store with around 500 items closed and had an eBay credit of approximately $150 and their account showed credits - after closing their store - for listing fees on SIF items back SIX months!
We are certainly not suggesting that you close your store in order to hopefully get a huge credit, but if you are simply waiting until the end of your 30 day cycle of items to close your store, you may want to consider doing it now. The reported glitch apparently works on items ended mid-cycle. If this problem does in fact exist and it hasn't been fixed yet, many sellers stand to not only have no bill, but actually receive a credit in their account. And if this is really an eBay glitch and eBay hasn't fixed this glitch yet, look for them to do it very soon.
