Did eBay Launch a DoS Attack Against eBaymotorssucks.com?
We received an email the other day from the owner of the www.ebaymotorssucks.com website concerning an ongoing DDoS attack against his site, one that he blames eBay Inc. for orchestrating. For those of you who don't know, and right now can't visit the site because it is down due to the attack, eBay Motors Sucks is a site that for years has been dedicated to exposing fraud on eBay; Whether this fraud be caused by unscrupulous sellers, scammers or by the corporation itself, there is little doubt in anyone's mind that eBay is wrought with fraud and has been for some time.
The site owner blames eBay for the attack. Is it reasonable to assume that eBay would do such a thing? Perhaps. If you've followed this and other eBay related blogs over the years, you know that eBay Inc. will use money, power, influence, threats and intimidation to accomplish their goals....it's a public company after all, and since employees (particularly the management) are paid in part with stock options, it is in their best interest that the company remain healthy financially. Denying fraud and hiding scams and hacking that have affected the site is to their benefit.
That said, it is also just as likely that the DDoS attack came from an unhappy scammer organization who didn't like eBaymotorssucks.com bringing to light their scams. Whether the attack was orchestrated by eBay, scammers, or another party, the fact remains that eBay Motors Sucks' website has been dedicated to exposing fraud on eBay for years....which is why it is my personal belief that eBay is not behind the attack. If I were an executive at eBay, I would be thanklessly grateful that such sites exist to expose fraud. It's much easier to pay an employee or two to peruse sites such as ebaymotorssucks.com to learn of scams and fraud, rather than pay a brigade of employees to search the site for scams - which change and morph constantly.
Anyway, eBaymotorssucks posted a video to Youtube about the incident, you can watch it and decide for yourself...

Hmmmm.. Well Josh.. It turns out that the FBI was doing an investigation of Scammers who were using eBay's VPP to defraud the public.
BUT eBayMotorsSucks.com has been reporting scams that used eBay VPP Branding since mid 2009.
Personally i think it was eBay that launched that DdoS attack in an attempt to prevent the FBI from finding out just how long the VPP scams have been running, and how many people lost their money.
One guy i spoke with lost $16,500 in a VPP Scam where he bank wired the money to his assigned eBay Agent! Kiss that $$ Behind.
Another who was told by eBay Live Support that an auction number was legit and she was covered by VPP lost $15,500 if i recall correct. This was the REAL eBay Motors live support too, not some scammers faux eBay scam chat box!
I now have 17 Mirror eBayMotorsSucks.com sites up and indexing into search.
In a classic eBay Shoot The Messenger act - eBay suspended my little ole posting ID.. LOL!
Fuck Em!
